Kim Ridgway, aged 32, is marrying Glenn Hatton, 30, at the Potters Club in June. She counts down to the big day with this exclusive Potters Club blog.

April 2018

Well, not long left now! Five weeks to go and things are getting really exciting – which is exactly how it should be!

As the big day approaches, it’s just a case of bringing everything together so it all slots together on the day. I went for my first dress fitting on Friday, and that definitely made it feel a bit more real! The dress has been in the shop since last July – I first went the weekend after we won the wedding competition - so to finally have it on really did feel a special moment. We’ve also had all the bridesmaids’ dresses made, and I’ve got my ring.

All the details of the day - flowers, hair, cars, pick-ups, are all booked. I’ve arranged my hair and make-up trials. All the flowers have been selected. Those are all big things and so to have them sorted is certainly a weight off my mind.

The really lovely thing is knowing the Potters Club has everything in hand. For instance, the venue is totally on top of how the room should be dressed. I don’t need to be constantly ringing or checking because I know how professional they are. All the way along they have worked towards creating the perfect day for us and so there isn’t any stress on my head.

Not to feel stressed is amazing, such a relief, and means I can really enjoy the run-up. I’ve had a couple of hen-dos, the main one in Liverpool and then a work one in Stoke. They’ve been really great fun and everyone has been so kind.

The kids, meanwhile, are in a state of real excitement. Oscar keeps asking when he can get married! - “I want to get married!” But he knows also that when the wedding is done he’s going on his holidays, so he’s super-excited about that too. We’ve booked the honeymoon in Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, a family room so the kids can enjoy it too.

Hopefully we’ll have a bit of sunshine here in Stoke-on-Trent for the big day itself.

Looking back, the past twelve months has gone in a flash – an amazing 12 months during which so much has happened.

But the biggest event of all is still to come. It’s going to be an amazing day – one I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
